With renowned investors on both sides of the Atlantic – including Warren Buffett and Anthony Bolton – going public about taking new long positions in equities, some market commentators have tentatively called the bottom of the bear market.

Private investors are trying to get in on the action. Angus Campbell, head of sales at Capital Spreads, says the majority of his clients have been trying to pick a bottom in the past few weeks. “If you get it right, the rewards can be very high,” he notes.
