Stocks rally on surprise US GDP boost

Stocks rallied on Thursday after data showed that the US economy grew much faster in the second quarter than first reported, boosted by a strong increase in international trade.

Economists had predicted gross domestic product growth for the second quarter of 2.7 per cent in the world’s largest economy, up from the government’s estimate of 1.9 per cent reported in July.
