Forex markets escape volatility

Foreign exchange markets escaped much of the increase in volatility this week infecting other asset classes.

However, dollar sentiment suffered from political tensions over Iran, while Ben Bernanke’s nomination as Alan Greenspan’s successor prompted greater uncertainty over the outlook for US interest rates in 2006.
