Italy shaken as justice minister resigns

Italy’s Justice Minister confirmed his resignation on Thursday, rejecting the request of Prime Minister Romano Prodi that he stay in the government.

Italy’s fragile centre-left government was shaken on Wednesday by the resignation of Clemente Mastella who was reported to be under investigation for corruption following the arrest of his wife.
