Norway rates should stay high, says OECD

Norway’s central bank should continue tightening monetary policy despite the global financial squeeze, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) recommended on Wednesday.

The OECD said the Norges Bank should exercise caution, given the rise in Norwegian household indebtedness and the global financial environment, but that rising inflation must be contained in a country that is Europe’s biggest producer of oil and gas.
