Treasury unveils UK-Reits proposals

Plans for new tax-efficient property vehicles announced on Wednesday were greeted as less restrictive than the industry had feared.

The new structures - to be called UK-Reits (real estate investment trusts) after ministers abandoned attempts to call them PIFS (property investment funds) - were unveiled by the Treasury in a discussion paper as Gordon Brown presented his Budget.
