Microsoft adopts ‘say on pay’

Microsoft on Friday became one of the most prominent US companies to give shareholders a formal voice in executive compensation, addressing a key issue for activist investors and politicians.

The board of the software company opted to call for a non-binding advisory vote approving or disapproving of the company’s pay policies every three years.
