IBM is to supply part of the technology for Deutsche Börse as it implements a complex upgrade of all its trading platforms.
The deal comes amid greater focus on the speed of transactions – so-called latency – that can be carried out on exchanges’ platforms, with traditional exchanges under threat from a range of alternative trading platforms. These have touted high performance, as one of their strengths – particularly for frequent traders using computer-driven algorithms to trade in milliseconds.
