NTN considers internet launch

Nippon Television Network, one of Japan's big five TV broadcasters, yesterday said it was considering a new service to distribute TV programmes over the internet.

NTV's plan, yet to be finalised, would make it the first major broadcaster in Japan to launch a web-based service offering TV programmes, and highlights the growing threat the internet is posing to conventional media in Japan.
