Jeff Zucker, chief executive of NBC Universal, fired back at comedian Jon Stewart on Wednesday, saying that the Daily Show host’s recent criticism of the CNBC financial news network was “incredibly unfair”.

Mr Stewart’s show, broadcast on Viacom’s Comedy Central network, recently blasted the financial media – and CNBC in particular – for its coverage of the crisis in the markets.
