UK foreign policy hits relief, says Oxfam

Britain’s falling popularity in many Islamic and developing countries is damaging British charities’ ability to help with disaster relief and reconstruction in war zones, according to Oxfam.

The UK-based international development charity says it was forced to turn down British government funding for disaster relief in Lebanon after last year’s Israeli-Lebanon conflict. It says its reputation would have been damaged by association with UK foreign policy, given the government’s failure to call for a ceasefire during the conflict.
