Why it is not yet time for change

If election campaigns are supposed to confront countries with clear choices about their future direction, then the British campaign that culminates in Thursday's general election can already be counted a failure. None of the main parties has provided a truly compelling argument as to why it deserves a sizeable majority in the next parliament.

Instead, serious debate has been supplanted with shallow slogans and trivia, as politicians focus more on getting voters to the polls than on matters of substance.
