Isle of plenty

Jersey does not like the term “tax haven”. Just a few years ago, the Channel Islands jurisdiction’s role as an offshore financial centre appeared under threat as international bodies accused it of “harmful tax practices”.

But much has changed. The Crown dependency – one of the British Isles but not part of the UK and independently administered – has instituted tax changes, strengthened its regulation and improved transparency.
