On January 15, the Bulgari Group unveiled a new strategy for its watchmaking division. Francesco Trapani, chief executive, announced plans “to merge the cutting-edge skills of our Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth Manufacture in Le Sentier with the prestigious image of Bulgari.”
The decision to scrap the micro brands may spell the end for quirky delights such as Gérald Genta’s Mickey Mouse automatic tourbillon in a platinum case and Daniel Roth’s more grown-up but no less exotic and eccentric take on timekeeping.
