An explosion in a Shia mosque in Iran that killed 12 people and injured about 190 was an accident and not an attack, a senior official said on Sunday.

The blast, which happened on Saturday evening in the southern city of Shiraz, “was an accident, not any bombing”, Abbas Mohtaj, deputy interior minister, told local media.
