SK and Providence approach Sprint

SK Telecom of South Korea this month teamed up with Providence Equity Partners, the US private equity group, to propose a $5bn investment in Sprint Nextel, the wireless carrier, it has emerged.

They also talked about the return of former chairman Tim Donahue. The offer was made in a letter to Sprint’s board on November 10 that was obtained by the Financial Times.
