BRUSSELS European antitrust officials gave a green light to the acquisition of Holland’s Essent by German power utility RWE, but subject to a divestment to address competition concerns in Germany’s wholesale electricity and gas markets.
The European Commission said it would require RWE to divest Essent’s controlling shareholding in Stadtwerke Bremen (SWB), the local German utility.
