Nyenrode Universiteit, in the Netherlands, has postponed the start date of its full-time MBA from January 2010. No new date has been given for the start of the programme, known as the International MBA. The reason for the delay, according to Willem Burggraaf, dean of the business school, is the unavailability of student loans for international students.

In a letter written to alumni, and published on the school’s website, Prof Burggraaf states: “Our bank has just announced their decision that they are neither willing nor able to continue offering loans to our international students in these times of recession......Unfortunately, it has become evident that without these loans or an appropriate alternative, many students will not be able to join the International MBA program that is scheduled to start in January 2010. The Executive Board has therefore decided to postpone the start of the programme until such time as there are arrangements in place.”
