Chief scientist backs badger culls

Farmers scented victory on Monday night in their call for badgers to be culled to control the spread of disease in cattle, after the government’s chief scientist appeared to reverse policy on the issue.

Sir David King opened the way for targeted culls in a report on how controlling the badger population might reduce the spread of bovine tuberculosis.
