Hurricanes rack up losses for Berkshire Hathaway

Hurricanes in Florida and the Carribbean cost Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway investment group $1.25bn in pre-tax insurance losses this summer.

The higher-than-expected impact of four big storms meant quarterly earnings slipped for the third quarter in a row, falling from $1.8bn to $1.1bn.
