Japan ‘close to’ tighter monetary policy

The Bank of Japan is “very close” to exiting ending its ultra-loose monetary policy, its the central bank’s deputy governor said yesterday, although he stressed that current policy would be maintained until deflationary expectations were eradicated.

Kazumasa Iwata, speaking at a cabinet office conference, said that, by some measures, deflation had already been squeezed out of the economy.
