Office leasing activity soars in Manhattan

Office leasing activity surged in Manhattan during the third quarter, offering a rare sign of stability for the biggest US commercial property market, but climbing vacancy rates continue to be a problem.

Between the second and third quarters, the Manhattan office vacancy rate ticked up by 0.6 percentage points to 11.1 per cent as companies continued to cull workers, according to a report released on Tuesday by Cushman & Wakefield, a real estate broker.
