Constellation Brands eyes Australian stake

Constellation Brands, the world’s biggest wine group, is in talks to buy a stake in Australian Vintage, the owner of the McGuigan wine brand, to boost profits during a long-running Australian wine glut.

“The Australian wine industry is facing unprecedented negative operating conditions,” said Rob Sands, president and chief executive of Constellation Brands. “This combination would create a more competitive entity better positioned to deal with the current environment.”
