Chrysler has ratcheted up discounts on its cars and trucks as part of a fresh campaign to bring down inventories and quell customers’ nervousness about buying a vehicle from a bankrupt carmaker.
The discounts add up to as much as $6,000 a vehicle. Many dealers are likely to offer even sweeter deals by shaving their own profit margins. Chrysler’s incentives in April were worth $4,900 a vehicle, the highest of any carmaker, according to Edmunds.com, an online car-pricing service.
