Bank of England leaves rates unchanged

The Bank of England on Thursday left its main interest rate unchanged at 4.75 per cent for the tenth month in a row after increasing evidence that the UK economy is slowing down.

The decision had been widely expected by investors and economists, most of whom now think that the monetary policy committee will consider cutting interest rates over the course of the second half of this year.
