Concern about drug side-effects prompts tougher reporting code

Pharmaceutical companies must do more to encourage identification of side effects of their medicines, under a new industry code of practice published yesterday.

New promotional information on drugs produced by British companies from November must explicitly and "prominently" state that "adverse events should be reported" and provide details of the website to contact with concerns.
