Transport: More investment needed to keep region on right track

Leeds is one of the UK’s most strategically important city regions. It is halfway between London and Edinburgh, and Liverpool and Hull. Its network of road and rail connections are a big potential competitive strength.

It is home to the busiest railway station in England outside London, and Leeds-Bradford International Airport (LBIA) is one of the UK’s fastest growing regional airports. The A1, M1 and M62, three of the UK’s busiest roads, crisscross the region, offering easy north-south and east-west access.
