Iberia dispels doubts over BA deal

The head of Iberia’s largest shareholder sought yesterday to dispel doubts about the Spanish flag-carrier’s proposed merger with British Airways, saying an agreement between the two was “close”.

Miguel Blesa, chairman of the savings bank Caja Madrid, told reporters: “The operation is close – that’s my impression.”
