Norwegian krone falls after rates cut

The Norwegian krone fell sharply Wednesday after the country’s central bank cut interest rates in an attempt to fend off deflation.

The Norges Bank, as expected by the majority of analysts, cut rates by 50 basis points to 2 per cent, saying the decline in activity in the Norwegian economy would be more pronounced than assumed.
