The fate of British Airways’ planned venture with Amer­ican Airlines and Spain’s Iberia drew a step closer to resolution late on Thursday, after European competition authorities issued their list of objections to the proposed transcontinental tie-up.

Among the competition department’s concerns are the disproportionate grip the three airlines would have on key Europe-to-US routes, including those between London Heathrow and Miami and Dallas.
