Risks higher in smaller floats

Investing in initial public offerings, particularly in smaller companies, is a risky business with a substantial number going bankrupt, according to a survey from the University of Exeter Business School.

“The stark reality of the IPO research is the extent of bad returns for smaller companies,” says Professor Alan Gregory, who carried out the research with Cherif Guermat of the University of the West of England.
