Subprime fall-out Alliance Trust, the international investment trust and financial services group, has promoted Katherine Garrett-Cox to chief executive.
When she rises from chief investment officer to the top job on August 29, Ms Garrett-Cox, 40, will become the fifth woman chief executive in the FTSE 100 index.
