’Depressing’ lack of senior women in civil service

Women make up just 30 per cent of the senior civil service and in some departments earn a quarter less than their male colleagues, according to research on median pay.

The weighted gender gap for full-time workers across the civil service stands at 15 per cent, with the median pay difference of £4,419, according to analysis of public data by the Liberal Democrat party.
