EU summit to open talks on president

European Union leaders are pencilling in a Brussels summit on June 19-20 for their first substantive discussions on who should become the bloc’s first full-time president.

For all the talk of Tony Blair, the former UK premier, Jean-Claude Juncker, Luxembourg’s prime minister, and others, the overwhelming view among EU officials and diplomats is that it is too early to speak of frontrunners for the job or even clear-cut candidates.
