Alexei Kudrin, Russia's finance minister, was served with a civil lawsuit yesterday by a group of American shareholders in Yukos, according to an attorney working on the case.

Mr Kudrin was served with the suit as he made his way into the Department of Treasury to visit John Snow, the US Treasury secretary.
