Democrats push for budget resolution

Democrats were on Tuesday working frantically to pass a $3,600bn budget resolution in both houses of Congress to meet Wednesday’s White House deadline that marks the 100-day anniversary of Barack Obama’s period in office.

Tuesday’s congressional activity followed an agreement between the two chambers on Monday night that paved the way for a bill that would allow the majority party in the Senate to bypass the Republicans in order to push through healthcare reform.
