As a young boy, Thomas Jefferson Wu used to visit construction sites on days off with his father, Sir Gordon, who in 1963 had co-founded a property firm with his own father.
Both Sir Gordon and Mr Wu – chairman and managing director respectively of Hopewell Holdings – graduated from the school of engineering at Princeton University. After working in Japan and attending business school in the US, Mr Wu joined his father at Hopewell. He has three siblings, but is the only one of Sir Gordon’s children at Hopewell.
