Asia assets of RBS could be worth £500m-£1bn

The Asian assets of Royal Bank of Scotland, which are up for sale, could be worth £500m-£1bn, although it is thought that some bidders are prepared to pay only about £700m.

HSBC and Standard Chartered are among those talking to RBS about buying the assets, which include 170 branches and employ 7,000 staff. ANZ, the Australian bank is also thought to be interested.
