Microsoft strikes public body deal

The public sector is set to save around £75m over the next five years after a new deal with Microsoft over software licences, according to Angela Eagle, exchequer secretary at the Treasury.

Public bodies of any size will be able to buy just the elements they need from Microsoft's standard package, at a price that gives small bodies the same competitive deal enjoyed by larger ones, she said.
