Investors in many developed markets are watching indices drop to multi-year, or in worst cases, decade-plus lows. In Japan, stocks are trading close to multi-decade lows.
The Nikkei 225 is trading at its lowest in 26 years and has lost 60 per cent since last June. The loss of foreign investors has been hard on the market. This group of investors used to account for about 70 per cent of daily turnover. That figure is now closer to 40 per cent, brokers say.
