Greece’s long-running crusade to secure sole rights to the term ’feta’ suffered a setback this week when Danish food ministry officials revealed they had seized several tons of bogus Greek feta at the Danish border.

The seized cheese - purportedly from Greece but actually of Bulgarian origin - is likely to cause embarrassment both in Athens and Bulgaria, which is in the midst of pain-staking negotiations to join the European Union.
