ISM data reinforce US manufacturing gloom

Manufacturing activity suffered a further slowdown last month to a 26-year low, the Institute for Supply Management said on Monday, providing the latest evidence of the deepening US economic turmoil.

The ISM’s overall index dropped to 36.2 in November – the lowest reading since May 1982 – from 38.9 in October, marking the fourth consecutive month of rapid contraction.
