World Bank’s Wipro ban intensifies sector’s woes

The World Bank’s announcement on Monday that it had banned Wipro Technologies from doing business with the multilateral institution could not have come at a worse time.

The sector is already struggling with the scandal at its fourth-largest company by revenues – Satyam Computer Services, whose former chairman B. Ramalinga Raju has confessed to fixing the company’s books in a fraud worth more than $1bn.
