In popular myth, those at the top of the private equity pile – investors, executives, bankers – are coining it. Monday’s Financial Services Authority report is not supposed to be a precursor to a clampdown, but it may add to the negative view of the sector by focusing on the potential for market abuse, conflict of interest or excessive leverage.
