EDF Energy, the electricity supplier which is the most enthusiastic about investing in new nuclear power stations in Britain, expects to have only one such planton stream by 2020, it said yesterday.
More of its investment over the next decade will be in new gas-fired power stations, the company said, as it set out plans to reduce by 60 per cent the carbon dioxide its emits for each unit of electricity it generates by 2020. EDF, the UK arm of the French EDF Group, which bought London Electricity in 1998, made the commitment as part of a package of environmental initiatives aimed at reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and waste.
