Gastronomy: Ferran Adria: Simmering reputation resists boiling over

Most celebrities – whether sportsmen, actors, artists or cooks – capitalise on their fame to build a business. Ferran Adrià, possibly the world’s most influential chef, has built a business in order to be left alone.

It is not the first time that Mr Adrià, the chef-owner of El Bulli, a three-Michelin-star restaurant on the Costa Brava, has applied his counter-intuitive logic to great effect.
