Tighter sanctions on Iran regime proposed

The UK proposed a new Security Council resolution tightening sanctions on Iran’s nuclear programme on Thursday, also moving tentatively towards broader containment of its activities.

The draft, agreed by all permanent members of the council and Germany, would ban arms exports from Iran and widen travel restrictions on Revolutionary Guard and other regime figures.
