Saudi king still in hospital despite reports of improving health

King Fahd, the Saudi monarch, yesterday spent a third day in hospital being treated for respiratory problems amid rising concern about his frail health.

A medical official was quoted in Riyadh as saying that chest X-rays, taken at the weekend, showed that the king was recovering from the pneumonia for which he was hospitalised. He described the king, who was in intensive care, as "stable and improving".
