Hesitating to take on global leadership

One measure of how much China has changed over the past three decades is the huge expectation now surrounding its role in resolving the global financial crisis.

Since the September collapse of Lehman Brothers precipitated a broader slump in the global economy, many people have begun to look to China for salvation.
