India’s drive to overhaul its outdated road transport network intensified yesterday as the government announced a target of building 12,000 kilometres of highway this year and new plans to introduce European-style toll roads.
Kamal Nath, the minister for road transport and highways, said his country was seeking $10bn from international investors over the next two years to transform India’s overburdened, archaic roadways.
